Australian Retailers Association – Retail Training Package (2016) Industry Consultation

2015 has been an exciting year for the retail industry which continues to change and evolve at a rapid pace, bringing along not just challenges and exciting opportunities but also the need for retailers to constantly develop their skills to meet the demands of the retail industry.

SkillsIQ has reviewed the national retail qualifications which have now been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee and will take affect 2017. SkillsIQ is a newly formed Skills Service Organisation (SSO) responsible for the development and review of the SIR Retail Services Training Package. The formation of SkillsIQ has resulted from a merger of Service Skills Australia and Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council.

To help us better understand industry requirements the ARA would like to conduct a survey that will identify the priority skills and knowledge areas across the different qualification levels.

The survey will explore the areas of pre-employment, entry, supervisory, managerial and leadership elective unit priorities in support of the already identified core units of competency. The survey is made up of a short suite of questions designed to understand business learning requirements.

Your participation would greatly assist in future proofing the success and competitiveness of the retail industry.

We look forward to continuing our work together in delivering high quality education and training for the retail sector and for your continued support. We encourage you to both take they survey and promote it. Results of the survey will be shared once collated.
